Our team of experienced, friendly general practitioners are here to provide the personalised and professional health care you deserve. Whether it is a day-to-day issue, healthy-living advice or a long-term, complex condition, our team will provide a careful and considered approach to your concerns.

Standard Appointments

Our standard appointment is 15 minutes and designed to cover one to two issues.

If you have multiple or complex issues please book an extended appointment. An extended appointment is especially helpful for mental health issues.

Virtual Appointments

We offer doctor appointments by phone.

Both in-person and phone appointments are charged at the same rate.

If you are renewing your driver licence or applying for a new class of licence, our doctors can perform your medical.

The appointment may require a nurse appointment, followed by a doctor appointment so let our receptionist know you are booking a driver licence medical.

If you wear glasses while driving please bring these along to the appointment.

The fee for a Driver Licence medical is $95

If you are on regular medication and your condition is controlled you can generally request repeat prescriptions without seeing your Doctor. Please note repeat prescriptions are at the doctor’s discretion and a review may be necessary.

Prescriptions can be sent directly to your pharmacy or collected from the Clinic. Request your prescription via Vensa patient portal or by emailing practicenurse@cairnhill.co.nz.

When emailing please include your full name, date of birth, the medication you require and what pharmacy you would like your prescription sent to. You will be notified by text when your prescription has been sent to your pharmacy.

Please allow at least 48 hours for a repeat prescription to be processed.

Our doctors perform skin biopsies, skin surgeries, mole removals and ingrown toenail removals.

We also offer cryotherapy which is a treatment for various pre-cancerous skin lesions, skin tags and verrucae with liquid nitrogen.

New Zealand has high rates of sexually transmitted disease (STI). Many STI’s are easily treated with antibiotics. Our clinic provides a comfortable and non-judgemental environment.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is medicine taken to prevent getting HIV. At Cairnhill Health Centre our doctors are available to prescribe PrEP where appropriate.

Our doctors can advise on all areas of family planning and contraceptive methods.

An annual Well Man or Well Woman Check helps early detection of health risks, giving you the best chance of living a longer and healthier life.

The consultation with the doctor and nurse takes 45 minutes and is $195. It involves a thorough review, examination and discussion, including planning any next steps that may be required.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in New Zealand.

Early detection provides you with the best outcome and a through and regular skin examination is important for your wellbeing.

Our doctors provide full skin examinations or can check specific spots that are causing you concern. If required we perform a biopsy, excision, or provide a referral to a specialist.

An electrocardiograph (ECG) is a non-invasive test that is used to check the electrical activity of the heart.

An ECG may be requested by your doctor to find the cause of symptoms that may indicate a problem with your heart or to check heart health when other diseases are present such as diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Our experienced nursing team are certified to administer all adult and child vaccinations.

We offer funded and non-funded vaccinations. Non-funded vaccination will require a doctors consultation.
